Free Software for Portuguese politicians? Naaa…

It appears that yesterday the Parliament voted on a proposal to deploy Free Software in there. The proposal was made by PCP, the Comunist Party, which makes this one the few proposals of theirs that I actually agree with (the others were related with [getting rid of] software patents).

That was the proposal; the result, well, was what could be expected and yields one inescapable conclusion: they have no idea whatsoever of the issues at hand. In particular, the decision to stick with Ms Word format shows were we stand regarding FOSS. Quoting from the link above:

Overall, this “approval” was no approval at all. It was a loud and clear “SHUT THE FUCK UP” to Partido Comunista Português. This is the Parlment we have here.
